Over last weekend’s Singapore Motor Show, Tan Chong Motor Sales debuted the 2023 Nissan X-Trail, marking the regional debut of this new-generation 7-seater C-segment SUV.

Nissan is represented in Singapore by Tan Chong Motor Sales, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-listed Tan Chong International Limited (TCIL), which also owns Malaysian Subaru distributor TC Subaru. The Hong Kong-listed TCIL operates independently from Malaysia's Bursa-listed Tan Chong Motor Holdings, which owns local Nissan distributor Edaran Tan Chong Motor.

For the Singaporean market, the T33 X-Trail is only available with Nissan’s e-Power series-hybrid powertrain. The X-Trail is Nissan Singapore’s fourth model to offer the e-Power system, after the Nissan Serena, Nissan Kicks, and Nissan Note.

Power for the Nissan X-Trail e-Power comes from a turbocharged 1.5-litre 3-cylinder KR15DDT petrol engine mated to a BM46 electric motor. Being a series-hybrid, the petrol engine only serves as a generator to recharge the 1.8-kWh high-voltage battery pack.

For the Singaporean market, the T33 X-Trail features Nissan’s e-4ORCE electric all-wheel drive system (e-AWD), combining a BM46 motor up front and a MM48 motor at the rear. Combined output of the front and rear motor is a respectable 213 PS.

From the photos, it appears that the Singapore-spec T33 X-Trail gets automatic LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 12.3-inch infotainment system (similar to the European-spec X-Trail), 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic dual-zone climate control, and a Qi wireless charging pad.

In terms of safety, this particular unit gets 6 airbags, vehicle dynamics control (Nissan's term for ESC), 360-degree view camera, and blind spot monitoring. Curiously, there's only regular cruise control here; adaptive cruise control isn't fitted.

Detailed specifications of the Singapore-spec T33 X-Trail will be available upon the model’s launch in the country.

Closer to home, the locally-assembled (CKD) T32 X-Trail is expected to continue on for at least another year. Prices start from RM 136,888 for the entry 7-seater 2.0L 2WD, stretching to RM 161,888 for the 7-seater 2.5L 4WD. The 5-seater 2.0L Hybrid starts from RM 159,888.
