Isuzu ended 2023 on a record-beating high as it surpassed the company’s previous all-time sales record for the Isuzu D-Max set just a year ago in 2022.
A total of 9,650 units of the award-winning pick-up truck were sold nationwide last year. With a 16.6% market share, the D-Max is the third best-selling pick-up in Malaysia but it is the second best-selling pick-up truck in Sabah, Kedah, and Pahang.
“Since the third-generation D-Max was introduced in Malaysia in 2021, interest in this model has remained consistently high thanks to its good features, excellent driving character, versatile operation and impressive value for money. This new model has expanded our customer base by increasing our conquest sales by 185% while retaining our strong core customer base,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer Mr Shunsuke Okazoe.
Of the 8 variants currently offered, the most popular in Malaysia is the 1.9-litre Standard variant which contributed 28% of sales. This workhorse variant with its modest engine displacement that offers the benefit of lower road tax and lower running costs makes it ideal for many commercial uses.
Another variant that is also growing in popularity is the flagship X-Terrain with sales growing by 24.5% since its launch. 2023 saw the D-Max receiving some meaningful updates including an electronically actuated rear differential lock as standard on all 4x4 variants, new colours, and new wheel designs.
The D-Max is available with a 1.9-litre (150 PS/350Nm) or 3.0-litre (190 PS/450 Nm) turbodiesel inline-4 unit which is paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Prices for all 8 variants range between RM 94,949 to RM 150,938.
Aside from the X-Terrain’s 7-year/unlimited mileage warranty, the rest of the D-Max line-up is covered by a 5-year/150,000-km warranty.
