If you’ve been in the market for a 3-row SUV, the Proton X90 is surely on your shortlist. Ignoring Proton’s latest SUV offering is hard, given its price point and mild hybrid powertrain to boot, making it the perfect family companion.
EON will be having the X90 on display during the Carlist.my DRIVE Auto Fair 2023 happening this 1-3 September weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam. More importantly however, visitors will also be able to take it for a test drive during the fair.

Furthermore, if you’re not in the market for such a large SUV but you have your eyes on other Proton models, EON will also be offering rebates up to RM 7k on selected other models.
As for the X90, it’s available in 4 variants as follows:
- Standard – RM 123,800
- Executive – RM 130,800
- Premium – RM 144,800
- Flagship – RM 152,800

All variants are powered by a mild-hybrid (MHEV), Proton’s first, that comprises a turbocharged 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine and a 48V belt-driven starter generator. Together, the system produces a combined 190 PS and 300 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Proton claims that the mild hybrid setup improves fuel efficiency by up to 15 percent than models without the 48V system, with official figures quoted as 6.8 L/100 km.

Furthermore, it has multiple seating configurations depending on the variant. All variants are available as a 7-seater except for the top-of-the-line Flagship that is a 6-seater. The middle row consists of a pair of captain seats as opposed to a bench seat.
The Flagship also features a panoramic sunroof although all variants get a large 12.3-inch infotainment display as standard.

From a safety perspective, the X90 receives a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating but ADAS is only offered on the two highest-spec trims, the Premium and Flagship which includes:
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
- Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
- Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC, works from 0 to 150 km/h)
- Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- Rear Collision Warning (RCW)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Traffic Sign Information (TSI)
- Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC)
