Toyota introduces software upgrades, new digital instrument panel themes for the AH40 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire

Fully digital instrument clusters in modern cars give you the choice between a few different display themes. Now, Toyota is jumping aboard that wagon together with its leasing arm, Kinto, in introducing new 2 new design themes for the new AH40 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, allowing customers to add the 2 themes to the default 4 already available.
The purpose of Kinto Factory is a service that offers Toyota owners the opportunity to retrofit their cars with Toyota features after leaving the factory. Of course, this also includes restoration work as well as updating software and hardware in accordance with technological innovations after the car’s launch and deterioration over time.
For the Alphard and Vellfire, the latest updates comprise 2 new meter graphics or themes. Coincidentally, this is also a first for Toyota.
In its stock state, the 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster in the Alphard and Vellfire already houses 4 themes, Casual, Smart, Tough and Sporty.
If that doesn’t cut it for owners, they can drop 9,900 yen (~RM 310) to get the new update from Kinto Factory that adds Classic Gear and Metallic into the mix.
Classic Gear lends the display a retro, steampunk vibe while Metallic gives it a sense of luxury. Bear in mind that these are just themes and not complete redesigns of the instrument cluster display.
Although Kinto is Toyota’s leasing arm, the update won’t be restricted to just cars from the plan. Owners of the cars that have purchased it outright will be able to get the new themes as well.

Owners can purchase the new themes from the Kinto Factory website and have it installed at a Toyota dealership that handles Toyota Upgrade Selection.
Orders for the Alphard and Vellfire have ceased due to overwhelming demand but Kinto is still accepting applications for leasing, with delivery times as short as 6 months for the Alphard and 7 months for the Vellfire.
“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
