Four BYD showrooms in Hong Kong recently experienced a series of vandalism attacks causing damage and disruption to the facilities recently. The incidents, categorised as criminal damage by the Hong Kong police, took place within a span of three hours in the districts of central Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories. All attacks involved a modus operandi of throwing red paint and/or smashing security gates of the premises. In one case, a 2-litre paint can was retrieved nearby the showroom.
