Toyota celebrated a winning 2022 in Indonesia, as the carmaker sold 331,410 units of their vehicles in the archipelago last year. That translates to a scintillating 31.6% market share of the total industry volume (TIV) of 1,048,000 units.
In other words, 1 in every 3 cars sold there last year is a Toyota.

MPVs were, unsurprisingly, their sales champions. The Toyota Avanza accounted for 60,619 units, while 32,022 units of the Toyota Veloz (treated as a seperate model) found new homes. In total, the Avanza-Veloz duo made up for 92,641 units – or 1 in every 10 new cars sold.
Despite the arrival of the all-new 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix, the older Kijang Innova still did well to find 46,933 new owners. The latter only sold 6,009 units, but then again it only debuted in November.

On the electrified front – which counts both electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids – Toyota sold a total of 4,463 units. It's a big 130% increase from 2021, in which less than 2,000 units were sold back then.

South East Asia is generally a strong market for Toyota, more so in 2022. In Thailand, they solidified their place as the Kingdom's best-selling brand (34% market share, or 288,809 units out of the 849,000 TIV), while in Malaysia, UMWT sold 100,042 vehicles to retain the top-selling non-national brand crown.
