Volvo Cars Malaysia has just introduced the locally-assembled (CKD) Volvo S60 in Malaysia.
The Volvo S60 CKD is priced from RM 295,888 (on-the-road, without insurance), same as the imported version.
Like the imported sibling, the assembled-in-Shah Alam S60 features Volvo’s T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is powered by a twincharged (supercharged and turbocharged) 2.0-litre engine mated to a plug-in hybrid system, allowing for a combined system output of 407 PS and 640 Nm. An 8-speed automatic is the sole transmission option.
The T8 nomenclature also indicates that the Volvo S60 is an all-wheel drive model – the engine powers the front wheels, while the electric motors drive the rear wheels, allowing the S60 T8 to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.4 seconds.
As before, the S60 T8 is generously equipped, as it gets the R-Design exterior styling package, 19-inch 5-triple spoke alloy wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, full City Safety ADAS suite, and Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving feature.
New to the Volvo S60 T8 CKD is Park Assist Pilot. In return, the boot's utility nets' anchor points and 12V socket have been removed, as well as the 60:40 split folding rear seats.
Volvo Cars Malaysia began exporting the locally-assembled S60 to Thailand in February. The S60 T8 CKD was supposed to be launched in March, but got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
