Roughly three years after its first introduction in CBU form, Bermaz Motors has now pulled the covers of the 2023 Mazda CX-30 CKD.
The locally assembled (Kulim, Kedah) 2023 CX-30 CKD now takes centre stage with lower prices and a streamlined four variants (previously five) at the following prices:

On average, the 2023 CX-30 CKD prices are approximately 13 percent cheaper across the range compared to the CBU variants offered previously. The 2023 CX-30 CKD now becomes the third CKD model after the Mazda CX-5 and CX-8, however, unlike the former two models, the CX-30 will not be exported to other Bermaz export markets and sold exclusively in Malaysia.
Note that the CX-30 Ignite Edition which carried additional styling, equipment and safety features has now been replaced by the 'High+ Premium' variant. The same is true for the previous entry-level '2.0G Core' variant which is now succeeded by the 2.0G Standard.
Removing the 2.0G Ignite Edition AWD variant also means the 2023 CX-30 CKD is now offered exclusively with a 2WD drivetrain, powered by the 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G four-cylinder that develops 165 PS at 6,000 rpm and 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of equipment and specifications, this is how the 2023 CX-30 CKD variants stack up:
In terms of safety, all 2023 CX-30 CKD variants are equipped as standard with 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, hill start assist, auto hold and Mazda's proprietary G-Vectoring Control (GVC) Plus chassis management system.
However, buyers have to move up to the 2.0G High+ variant for the Mazda i-Activsense ADAS features which include AEB, BSM, lane departure warning rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control (MRCC in Mazda speak).
Moving up to the range-topping 2.0G High+ Premium adds more advanced active safety features such as Front Cross-Traffic Alert (FCTA), Driver Attention Alert with driver monitoring and Mazda Cruising and Traffic Support (CTS) which compliments the MRCC and assists the driver in keeping the vehicle-centred within the lane lines.
In terms of infotainment, all four variants come installed with the Mazda Connect Infotainment featuring an 8.8-inch screen which is adjusted via Voice Command or the Multi-Function Commander Control. All 2023 CX-30 CKD variants are equipped with 8 speakers and feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
There are 7 colour options offered on the 2023 CX-30 CKD: Soul Red, Machine Grey, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Platinum Quartz, Polymetal Grey and Jet Black.
The 2023 CX-30 CKD is offered with Mazda's customary 5-year / 100,000 km warranty and a 5-year free maintenance package.
Arvind can't remember a time when he didn't wheel around a HotWheels car. This love evolved into an interest in Tamiya and RC cars and finally the real deal 1:1 scale stuff. Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
