Mazda has revealed their 'Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030' plans yesterday, which will see nearly their entire line-up being electrified, and Malaysia could welcome a majority of them too.
There'll be a total of 13 models electrified in some way, consisting of five hybrids, five plug-in hybrids, and three electric vehicles (EV) models being launched in Japan, Europe, China, and ASEAN between 2022 and 2025.
These includes models that will be using the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) as well.
These cars will be based on the SkyActiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture platform, which will enable electrification technologies paired to transverse and longitudinal engines in their smaller and larger cars, respectively.
Meanwhile, the company aims to introduce a dedicated EV platform by 2025, called the SkyActiv EV Scalable Architecture. This will underpin EVs of different sizes and body types.
Among the models we can expect to see following these plans will likely include the purported Mazda CX-50, the next-gen Mazda 2, and perhaps the next iteration of the Mazda 6, Mazda CX-5 and (wildcard) Mazda MX-5 too.
