Those waiting for the Mazda CX-5 facelift need to wait a little bit longer, as brand custodians Bermaz have mentioned that 'new facelifts' are only coming in next year, in a recent interview with BFM 89.9.

Dato Francis Lee, the CEO of Bermaz Auto Berhad, told the radio: "Going forward we have other car launches, which is not significant," implying that there will be no important launches like a new CX-5 happening this year.

Lee went on to say that facelift models will only be launched in 2024.

"Of course there will be new facelifts coming in next year and so on and so forth for some of our other models. We are now concentrating on the three main bread and butter models, which are our CKD (locally-assembled) models; CX-5, CX-8, and CX-30."

"These three models form the backbone of our volumes going forward," he said.

Dato Francis also mentioned that current waiting times for their cars are around "1 to 2 months", while explaining that the Inokom plant that builds Mazda cars in Malaysia are running at almost full capacity.
