After the devastating floods that hit certain areas of Malaysia, Proton is proud to announce that the production of yet another model is back on track. The manufacturer rolled out the first Proton X70 built in 2022 from the Tanjung Malim plant today.
This announcement came a week after the national carmaker resumed production of the smaller Proton X50 at the Tanjung Malim plant.

“The disruption caused by the floods has hit our vendor community hard and affected production schedules. Proton is working together with them to quickly restore supply lines but it’s a painstaking and time-consuming process,” said Roslan Abdullah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Proton.
“The resumption of Proton X70 production is the next step in our progress as we seek to get back to assembling all our models in the shortest possible time,” he continued.

Proton’s Tanjung Malim plant wasn’t directly affected by the flood, however, the manufacturer had to shut down the factory as most of its parts suppliers were unable to provide them with parts for the assembly.
This spells bad news as both the Proton X50 and Proton X70 are well-known to have a waiting list of up to six months.
However, Proton did not sit back and relax while the country continued to recover from the devastating flood. The company organised teams to offer clean-up assistance to both their staff members that were affected by the floods and vendors.
“The Proton X70 is one of the main pillars of our range. Attracting strong interest from customers both domestically and in export markets, it exemplifies the leap forwards Proton’s products have taken in recent years and will continue to play a major role in our success for years to come,” added Roslan Abdullah.
