Previously showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow in May, the 2023 Proton X50 R3 20th Anniversary Edition has just been launched earlier this morning. Limited to 200 units, it's priced from RM 125,300 sans insurance.

That entire kit costs RM 12,000 above the base X50 1.5 Flagship's RM 113,300 price tag.

Exterior

Based on the Flagship variant, the X50 R3 Edition comes exclusively in satin black color with an R3 Aerokit package, including additional front lip, side skirts with carbon-like finish, a more aggressive diffuser, and a carbon-style rear wing that resembles the one used by Geely Binyue Cool.

Additionally, there are yellow accents on the grille, brake calipers, front lip, side skirts, rear lip, and on the side mirror covers.

Incorporating R3 elements, several R3 touches have been applied to the SUV, such as R3 badges on the grille, stripes on the front hood, and an R3 Limited Edition emblem on the rear door.

For this edition, the license plate holder is also an R3 variant, and at the rear, the word "PROTON" has been replaced with glossy black trim.

Completing the overall exterior appearance are the 18-inch black gloss flow-formed rims that come with R3 caps.

Interior

Moving to the interior, the Proton X50 R3 Edition is unique with R3 embroidery on the front seat headrests.

Furthermore, the front passenger dashboard area is adorned with a 20th R3 Anniversary Edition plaque, in addition to the R3 carpets within.

Powertrain and safety

Under the hood of the X50 remains the same 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder TGDi engine making 177 PS and 255 Nm, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

The rest of the safety package remains as it does on the Flagship, namely its 6 airbags and active safety features. Its ADAS list are as below:

Booking and deliveries

Proton backs the car with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty. For those interested, you can make a booking at RM 599, and deliveries will begin in mid-November.
