Mazda Thailand just announced the new 2021 Mazda CX-5 - but at the outset, it must be clarified that this imported from Malaysia model is not the new 2022 Mazda CX-5 facelift.

As it turns out, this 'new' CX-5 receives updates that basically puts the Thai-spec model somewhat on par (there are still differences) with what's offered in Malaysia.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 facelift features styling updates, a new grille and revised suspension for better handling.

Unfortunately, the timing of this launch coincides with the new 2022 CX-5 facelift model that had just made its debut in Japan, so this may cause a bit of confusion.

And since, Thailand quite commonly receives many models, especially from Japanese manufacturers, prior to Malaysia, some may assume it to be the facelift model.

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Thailand model brings equipment and features up to par with our Malaysia model.

In any case, the Thai 2021 CX-5 now gets an 8-inch infotainment screen (optional in Malaysia for RM 1k) with Andriod Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity, GVC Plus as standard, and a range of new wheel rim choices ranging from 17 to 19 inches.

Powertrains remain unchanged with the 165 PS / 210 Nm Skyactiv-G 2.0-litre, 190 PS / 450 Nm 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D four-cylinder turbodiesel, and range-topping 231 PS and 420 Nm 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G turbo.
