  • 1,500 units sold since June 2017 debut
  • Sole 1.0L variant offered for sale
  • Roughly 3,000 Axias sold in Sri Lanka since 2015

After two years of being on sale in Sri Lanka, the Perodua Bezza is now the best-selling sub-1.0-litre sedan.

As of the first seven months of 2019, the Perodua Bezza leads the sub-1.0-litre segment in terms of new vehicle sales, across all body styles.

Unimo Enterprises, the local distributor of Perodua vehicles in Sri Lanka has sold 1,500 units of the Bezza since it was introduced in June 2017. The Perodua Axia has also been well-received by Sri Lankans, as the company has sold roughly 3,000 units of the little hatchback since 2015.

Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, “We congratulate Unimo Enterprises Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Mr Mahesh Gunathilake and his team for their hard work in promoting the brand and especially for the significant milestones they have achieved so far. We work very closely with Unimo to provide product knowledge and technical training for their sales and service staff, so our valued Sri Lankan customers can rest assured knowing that their Bezzas and Axias are always in the best of hands.”

For the Sri Lankan market, only one variant of the Perodua Bezza is offered, which features a 1.0-litre VVT-i engine mated to a 4-speed automatic. Perodua says that the Bezza returns an average fuel economy of ‘above 21 km/L’.

Unimo Enterprises Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Mr Mahesh Gunathilake said, “Buyers love the Perodua Bezza and Axia for their compactness, practicality, quality, reliability, durability and fuel efficiency. Both are also surprisingly roomy for their size. In particular, the Perodua Bezza has quite successfully introduced the compact sedan segment to Sri Lanka, a market long dominated by hatchbacks. Our customers really appreciate the bodystyle, increased comfort and cavernous 508-litre boot. The Perodua Bezza can take five people in comfort and their luggage too, making it very ideal for family journeys.”

For 2019, Perodua aims to export 3,270 cars, 50% more than last year’s 2,841 units. To date, Perodua has sold more than 80,000 cars overseas.
