The rise in sales continues for UMW Toyota in August 2023 as it recorded sales of 10,275 units (Toyota + Lexus). This represents a healthy 23 percent growth over July 2023 that saw 8,349 units sold.
August 2023 sales comprised 10,033 units for Toyota and 242 units for Lexus. With this performance, UMW Toyota also saw its total year-to-date (YTD) sales as of August 2023 at 67,283 units compared to the 61,639 units for the corresponding period in 2022 marking a 9.2 percent growth.
Moving forward, the sales momentum is expected to continue as Toyota has further strengthened its portfolio offerings with the dual launch of exciting upgrades to the Toyota Corolla line-up, comprising the Corolla GR Sport variant and 2023 Corolla IMP (improved).
The Corolla GR Sport (RM 152,800) aims to amplify driving pleasure for enthusiasts seeking a sporty driving experience from the distinguished Corolla while the improved -for-2023 Corolla facelift (RM 139,800 onwards) introduces a number of enhancements that complements the Corolla’s already established stature.

Alongside this, the Hilux, Fortuner and Innova range also received updates in September. Namely, the Hilux GR Sport received a power bump to 224 PS and 550 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful in its class. Additionally, the Tailgate Assist feature was also made standard for the Hilux GR Sport, Rogue and 2.4V variants.
Continuing with their sales push, UMW Toyota Motor celebrated Merdeka month with the continuation of their promotion offering a brand-new Toyota with up to 100 percent loan. Customers can opt for a low instalment plan option from as low as RM 628 a month for a Toyota Yaris, while buyers of the new Toyota Camry can enjoy up to RM 10,000 cash rebate.

In addition, the company also released its National & Malaysia Day 2023 film featuring interviews with children playing the roles of the bZ4X, Innova Zenix and Corolla Cross Electric Hybrid, sharing their opinions on Malaysia’s unique identity and the future of the nation.
On the motorsports front, August 2023 saw the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup Malaysia 2023 enter the simulator racer scene in a grand finale that saw the participation of professional real-world racers, celebrities and first-timers. The finals went down witnessed by an audience of more than two million online viewers across three days.

Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira emerged as the champion, becoming the most decorated GR GT Cup Malaysia racer since the event was first introduced in 2018. Dhanesh Wigneswaran and Chong Kai Chang finished in second and third places.
The trio will represent Malaysia at the GR GT Asia Pacific qualifier for the GR GT World Cup. A total of RM 90,500 was up for grabs in the tournament.
