Alongside the launch of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 and GLB 250 4Matic is the spicier and sportier 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4Matic. The GLB 35 will pack more punch and feature sportier trim for a price of RM 363,136. Like its standard counterparts, the GLB 35 is fully imported (CBU) from Mexico.

For a spunkier drive, the GLB 35’s M 260 2.0-litre turbocharged engine revs to the tune of 306 PS and 400 Nm. The engine is mated to an AMG Speedshift 8G DCT.

This allows the sportier GLB to make the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.2 seconds, not bad for a pretty tall SUV. Of course, the sprint time could have been helped by the Race Start function that comes as standard in the GLB.

Mercedes has also included AMG Dynamic Select and AMG Dynamic agility control. Dynamic Select will allow drivers to choose between 5 drive modes; Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.

The agility control will adjust the steering handling characteristics according to the drive mode selected.

If drivers want the full effect, they can also opt for the AMG Ride Control suspension that will allow drivers to change their suspension damping settings to match their driving mode.

Now that we’ve got the fun deeds laid out, let’s talk design. The GLB 35 sports the hallmark AMG-specific radiator grille so there is no mistaking the SUV is from the AMG family. This is the first time the AMG radiator grille has been used in a 35-series model.

Other AMG specific details include the AMG roof spoiler with black spoiler lip, front splitter, the prominent rear apron with two-round single tailpipe trim elements.

The GLB 35 also rides on larger 20-inch AMG 5-twin spoke light-alloy wheels finished in tantalite grey. The stylish wheels are complemented with AMG high-performance brakes finished in silver brake callipers and black AMG lettering.

Inside, the seats are upholstered in black Artico man-made leather while the roof is lined with Dinamica microfibre. The black seats are complemented with a splash of colour from the red seatbelts.

Tech lovers will also be spoilt by the Mercedes-Benz’s latest infotainment system. The MBUX in the GLB 35 will be displayed across two 7-inch screens that make up the instrument panel and the media display.

But unlike its standard counterparts that come standard as 5+2 seaters, the GLB 35 only has 5 seats.

As mentioned, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4Matic will retail at RM 363,136 on the road without insurance and sans SST. Expect the price to go up once the current SST exemption ends at the end of this year.
