Here, we will take a closer look and see how much does it cost to maintain and insure the Persona over a 5-year period.
Like its Campro-powered siblings, the Proton Persona requires an oil change at the 1,000-km mark, which costs RM 121.09.
After the 1,000-km service, the Persona requires a service at every 10,000-km/6-month interval.
For the Proton Persona, the most expensive service within the 100,000-km/5-year period is at the 60,000-km/36-month mark, as this is a major service where owners need to replace the spark plugs, engine oil, air filter, and transmission fluid. It costs RM 743.41 to service the Persona CVT at this particular interval.
It is cheaper to service the manual variant of the Persona at the 60,000-km mark, costing just RM 343.33, as the manual transmission fluid isn’t due until the 100,000-km mark.
Proton has also shifted the pricey timing belt replacement to the 110,000-km/66-month mark, which costs RM 633.85 for both the CVT and manual variants of the Persona.
As such, over a 5-year/100,000-km period, owners of CVT automatic variants of the Iriz need to fork out RM 3,051 to service their car, while maintaining the manual variant is slightly cheaper, coming in at RM 2,720.
Keep in mind that these prices do not include the timing belt replacement at the 110,000-km mark and optional items that the service centre offers, nor does it include the cost of tyre or battery replacement.
In terms of insurance rates, we’ve listed them below:
- Persona 1.6 Standard Manual: RM 1,397.50
- Persona 1.6 Standard CVT: RM 1,449.50
- Persona 1.6 Executive CVT: RM 1,579.50
- Persona 1.6 Premium CVT: RM 1,709.50
The insurance rates we mentioned above assumes that the driver has zero No Claim Discount (NCD), zero loading, and excludes additional coverage items such as windshield or floor coverage.
Last but not the least, we’ve also summarized the maintenance and insurance cost for the Proton Persona over a 5-year period in the table below.
