Launched in April this year with an estimated price of RM 279,900, BMW Group Malaysia have now confirmed that the all-electric i3S will be priced at RM 278,800 excluding insurance.
The model will be sold by selected BMW dealerships, specifically the ones that carry the BMW i branding.
To recap, the i3S is the highest specification variant of BMW’s i3 range. The four-seater hatchback is powered by a 184 hp/270 Nm electric motor - that’s 14 hp/20 Nm more than the standard i3 (not sold here). The sprint from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 6.9 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds faster than the standard i3, with a slight compromise of a 20 km lesser driving range. BMW Group Malaysia says our local specifications i3S has a driving range of 260 km.
The i3S also has sports suspension, which drops the ride height by 10 mm from the standard i3.
The next available electric vehicle on sale right now is the Nissan Leaf, which starts at RM 188,888.
