Decked out in gold, this one of a kind 2022 Proton X50 is just about as royal-looking as it's new owner, the Y.A.M. Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah. 

Bearing several special touches, the modifications to his X50 were done by Automotive Conversion Engineering (ACE) Sdn. Bhd., the special division within Proton that specialises in customising vehicles.

Proton ACE also works on all the Protons in Tengku Sulaiman's collection.

Besides the unique new paint scheme, the X50 also features aftermarket wheels, which contrast the black 'racing stripes' from front to back. Another black strip also features along the beltline. 

The front and back of this X50 is also complemented with customised registration plate holders featuring royal motifs and the Selangor royal crest on the rear tailgate. 

Peering inside reveals more extensive changes with the addition of what looks to be wood trim in the centre console and top and bottom halfs of the steering wheel, in addition to the contrasting yellow/gold topstitching seen on the seats and centre armrest. 

We can surmise that there are no changes under the hood, as the Proton X50's (177 PS / 225Nm) 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder already delivers a decent punch. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic driving the front wheels.
