Earlier in the year at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week 2023, Toyota Indonesia previewed the 2023 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport PHEV that left suburban dads and soccer mums salivating.

Now, it appears that Toyota Indonesia are making good on their tease by bringing the RAV4 GR Sport PHEV to our neighbours across the Straits of Malacca.

The proof is in the pudding as the electrified SUV was spotted running around Bandung, West Java, on photos to the Instagram account of a user going by the handle of @malvinwsetiawan.

Based on the photos, the PHEV SUV looks to be doing the rounds along Jalan Asia Afrika, one of the busiest roads in the City of Flowers (Bandung). When contacted by our sister site AutoFun, the owner of the Instagram account, Malvin, admitted he saw the car in the metal on 17 June 20023 around noon.

According to him, it appeared the car was being used for commercial shooting activities as it was surrounded by several members of a video content production crew. Judging by the photos, the lack of any camouflage on the car would appear to align with case of a video production.

Sighting documents under the Nilai Jual Kendaraan Bermotor (Selling Value of Motorised Vehicles, NJKB), or recommended retail price, from the Mendagri (Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs), the code AXAP54R-ANXGBW GR-S PHEV CVT is written under a motorised vehicle selling price of IDR 811 million (~RM 250,000).

When traced through auto parts catalogue site Partsouq.com, the aforementioned code corresponds with the RAV4.

Based on the NJKB, the RAV4 GR Sport PHEV will likely breach the IDR 900 million (~RM 278,888) barrier and make it pricier than the Corolla Cros Hybrid and Yaris Cross Hybrid that’s already sold there as well as the bZ4X BEV.
