Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) has just released its production data for export markets in the first half of 2023 (H1 2023) which saw 139,581 units being made at its plants all over the archipelago.
Toyota alone contributed 52.6% of the total figure of export production models in Indonesia during H1 2023. Based on Gaikindo’s data, a total of 248,004 units of completely built-up (CBU) vehicles were exported from Indonesia.
TMMIN doesn’t have the data for individual models but the most popular Indo-made Toyota are the SUVs which include the Fortuner, Rush, and Raize which saw 78,102 units being exported to countries all over the world.
This is followed by 7-seater and van models which include the last-gen Innova, Innova Zenix, Avanza/Veloz, and Town/LiteAce which saw 49,767 units exported.

Meanwhile, the remaining 11,712 units consisted of B-segment SUVs, hatchbacks, and low-cost green car (LCGC) models like the Yaris, Agya/Wigo, and Yaris Cross.
As for hybrid vehicles, TMMIN has produced over 30,500 units for both the domestic and international markets in the first half of 2023. Only two electrified models are produced in Indonesia, the Innova Zenix Hybrid as well as the Yaris Cross Hybrid.
Director of Administration at PT TMMIN, Bob Azam told Indonesian media that one of the reasons for export growth is the launch of the Toyota hybrid vehicles and this will help in the archipelago’s economic growth.
In a statement, he said, "In the future, we will also try to contribute to the Indonesian government's decarbonization target by reaching more consumers with various needs for their respective vehicle choices."
