Is the Proton Iriz engine reliable?
Here's my Proton Iriz driving experience. I drove my Proton Iriz back to my hometown, it's about 80km from the city.
The road that I took has about 50km going uphill and 30km going downhill. What i noticed was that when I drove Proton Iriz on a long downhill road, the RPM shoots up to 3, and I'm just at 60km/h.
On a steep road, Proton Iriz brake is applicable, and the RPM can be tamed because of the brake, but when on a long (but NOT steep) downhill road, the RPM shoots up. I can use the brake to tame the RPM but it would be ridiculous especially when it's not a steep road and when there are cars behind because it would slow down the Proton Iriz to 50km/h.
It made me think twice to cut in line whenever I need to especially cutting an 8-10 wheeler truck who uses the same road because using L gear at top speed would shoot the RPM to 4.
If you are asking whether Proton Iriz engine is reliable, then I think it must sth to do with the engine braking system. Or the Proton Iriz engine is just not made for the hillside.
