Last Friday, we revealed a rendering of what the next-generation 2022 11th-gen Honda Civic could look like in sedan form. Honestly, it does resemble a little bit of the Honda Accord especially in retaining the consistent family-look across the Honda line-up.
This time though, the team at the Civic XI forum has fired up their Photoshop skills to come up with a render of what the all-new 2023 Civic Type R could potentially look like.
Using spy shots that were taken earlier and the leaked patent images, the team has made a pretty riced out ravishing rendering of the hot hatch king.
And yes, the all-new Civic Type R will be maintaining the hatchback style as the outgoing FK8. At the front, the all-new Type R keeps a very fierce look which looks good, a little hood scoop here, and some bulging wheel arches there.
It looks a lot more muted than the FK8, still looks fast but without the added business of crashing into a nearby Brothers accessories shop.
Then, there’s the rear which just adds the wild and racy factor beyond 11. The vents near the front and rear arches could potentially be functional rather than just covered up like the Toyota Supra. The rear taillights appear more conventional than the crab claw-looking ones on the outgoing Civic.
Some people might think the quad tailpipes are a tad bit overkill but I think given how bonkers the hot hatch could well be, it’s pretty suitable for the all-new Type R. Overall, the rendering looks cleaner than the FK8 which, to some, appears more ricer than racing.
To some, the FK8 loses out the philosophy of the Type R name. It is powerful with 320 PS from its 2.0-litre KC20C engine but it does look a bit too much. Then, there are rumours that the next Civic Type R could produce 400 PS and share the same hybrid tech as the NSX.
The folks at the forum have also released a couple more images of the all-new Type R in blue and red. What do you think of these renders, do they look good on the Type R?
