Ever since its world debut in Malaysia, the 2021 Toyota Vios GR-S has been making waves around South East Asia. Following the Malaysian and Vietnamese launch, the next stop for the sportier variant of the B-segment sedan is the Philippines.
It looks sporty but it is missing something from the Malaysian Vios GR-S which we'll get to later.

The Toyota Vios is one of the most popular cars in the Philippines in 2020 with 25,290 units sold. In other words, this is the Filipino equivalent of the Perodua Myvi (in terms of being crowned King), and no doubt that this special Vios will attract a lot of buyers.

The Vios GR-S is launched alongside the announcements of the 2021 season of the Filipino Vios Cup. Just like its Malaysian and Vietnamese counterparts, it’s fully kitted out in a GR Yaris-inspired bodykit but with a standard powertrain.

That means it’s powered by the same 2NR-FE 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine (107 PS/140 Nm) as the standard Vios. This engine is mated to a CVT gearbox with 10 virtual ratios.
That transmission tune-up is the only other upgrade as Filipinos will be missing the suspension upgrades that are offered on the Malaysian Vios GR-S.
The Filipino-spec Vios GR-S is assembled at TMP’s plant in Santa Rosa alongside the regular variants of the Vios. Prices for the Gazooed up Vios start from P1,020,000.
