The Toyota Yaris Cross continues its rise in popularity against the Honda HR-V in Indonesia as it sold 1,849 units in the country in July 2023. Meanwhile, its H-badged rival sold 1,509 units in the same month.

According to Gaikindo’s sales data, both the Yaris Cross and HR-V dominated the compact crossover segment in the country that month as the only models to post 4-figure sales. In third place is the Chinese Wuling Alvez with 301 units followed by the Hyundai Creta (298 units) and Chery Omoda 5 (261 units).

The most popular variant of the Yaris Cross in Indonesia is the hybrid variant which saw 1,601 units sold in July, accounting for 86.5% of sales that month. Ever since the Yaris Cross made its debut in May, the hybrid variant has always been the more popular choice among Indo buyers.

Despite the Yaris Cross’ continued healthy sales, it wasn’t the best-selling SUV in Indonesia in July. Overall, the SUV is placed 11th with 3 Toyota SUVs posting higher sales – the Toyota Rush at 6th with 2,525 units, the Toyota Raize at 9th place with 1,951 units, and the Toyota Fortuner at 10th with 1,907 units.

It’s quite an achievement for one of the Perodua Ativa’s Indonesian twins outselling the Honda WR-V in July. The baby Honda SUV saw 1,841 units sold in Indonesia that month which puts it at 12th place that month.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s best-selling car of July 2023 is the Toyota Innova Zenix which saw 5,760 units. As seen with the Yaris Cross, the most popular variant of the Innova Zenix is the hybrid variant, specifically, the top-of-the-range Q variant with 1,385 units sold which accounted for 24% of sales that month.
