ford fiesta remap Q&A Review

Can I put a turbo charger in a 2011 Ford Fiesta? I was quoted 6 grand but I feel like that’s too high.

there is a lot of work goes into adding a turbo, its not just a case of buy a turbo, bolt it on and drive away. can it be done? yes. how much boost it can take is another matter, as is whether the engine management can be remapped enough to handle the change without having to change the ECU. then theres all the other parts that need to be upgraded, such as fuel pumps, injectors, etc. 6 grand (depending where you live and which version of Fiesta you are starting out with) sounds about right, from a UK perspective, and CHEAP in some parts of the world!

Which car you think has best driving experience?

Answer ofcourse differs on which terrain and what purpose you have for it but from the following: Audi 80, Audi A4, Audi A6 Avant, BMW X5, BMW 525d, Mercedes C240, Mercedes E220, Mercedes E220 Estate, Mercedes E320 4Matic, Mercedes 240D, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, Ford Mondeo, Ford Fiesta, VW Polo, Citroen C3, Peugeot 307, Ford Transit, Mitsubishi L200, Mitsubishi Pajero Shogun, Nissan Navara, Land Rover Discovery 2. I would certainly suggest the 525d if you have a budget which can accomodate random electrical faults but in return you can take roundabouts at 50mph and happily race an S63 AMG in London! The Mitsubishi L200 had a 2” lift kit, a remap and new offroad wobbly tires, with a full leather interior, it brought a new meaning to comfort on a mountain top.

How good is Vauxhall?

Car makers can suffer for decades if they get a bad rep at some point. Lancia pulled out of the UK entirely after a dreadful cock-up with the material specifications of the Lancia Beta meant that electrolysis accelerated corrosion was eating the underpinnings of the new model away almost as one watched…. Vauxhall had a similar problem. A steel shortage in the early ‘60’s led them to start using mild welsh steel, which corroded very quickly and within 10 years they gained a ruinous rep for rust. Ford were the market leaders in all the small and mid segments so competitors had to up their game. The Ford Escort’s competitor was the Vauxhall Viva. The Viva was, by most metrics, the better car. It had had Girling discs on the front on all models since 1967, whereas the Escort had drums It had a decent trailing arm rear suspension with coil springs and shocks, whereas the Escort had un tethered leaf springs. It had a clever 8 volt ignition coil with a ballast resistor so during cranking the coil was not compromised by voltage drop from the starter motor, the resistor serving to ensure the coil got the correct voltage under normal running so, unlike the Fords, they always started. (That was a ‘thing’ back then!) An 1159cc HB Viva was faster, more planted and stopped harder than the equivalent 1300 Escort, especially on its Dunlop low profile crossplies. it was not a coincidence that most tyre adverts in those days featured a Vauxhall… However, not of that made the slightest difference to the perceptions of the buyer. The RWD Cavalier was dynamically better than the Cortina, However, Ford got their shit together with the FWD cars. The Focus, Mondeo and especially the Fiesta got better and better.and left everyone else behind. With one exception…. The Vauxhall small diesels The Fiat derived 1.3 turbo diesel, best fitted to the Corsa is a fabulous, chain-cam gem with up to 95 bhp and almost comically high economy The 1.6 Astra diesel is capable of averaging well over 70 mpg And the 1.9 TD found in the Astra, the Vectra and the Insignia, especially in its 150 bhp variant, is a revvy powerhouse. The one in my SAAB with a bit of a remap, pushes out over 200 bhp and the car will average 70 mpg and 70 mph…. Since the mid ‘70’s, Vauxhall and Opel share almost everything, and today Vauxhall/Opel is dipping into the peugeot/Citroen PSA parts bin. Vauxhalls have always been great to drive… I’ve had three Vivas, an HA, a HB and an HC, A Magnum Viva, three Chevettes, a Cavalier and a Corsa myself, and we have a 1.6 diesel Astra at work. They’re good cars generally.

What is a small car that is fast? (I’m looking for something like a smart car with a bigger engine.)

This an is answer is a little biased since I own one, but as far as ‘bang for the buck’, it is hard to beat the value and performance of Ford Fiesta ST. They have a turbo charged 1.6 L that puts 197 horse power and 202 ft. lbs of torque. Not super fast to 60 mph as it requires a shift to third, but 6.9 seconds which is decent. Top Speed is about 143 mph. Car has very good ‘roll on’ power in the upper gears. Where this car really excels is the handling, absolutely amazing for a front wheel drive car. They only come with a 6 speed standard so if you want an auto, you are out of luck. Lots of performance pieces available if you are in to that. My own car has a Ford performance authorised Mountune remap and new air box which brings the car up to 215 horse power and 236 ft. Lbs. Installation of this kit by Ford will not void the warranty. Depending where you live they can be had for as little as $20,000.

Why do people prefer ford fiesta classic?

The Fiesta Classic is a driver centered car. Even though its a sedan, the rear legroom is not great and even the seats are not as comfortable as the other sedans. However what makes it lovable is the pleasure of driving it. The 1.6 petrol engine is pure fun to drive and the hydraulic power steering and awesome suspension setup make handling it a pleasure. While driving a Ford Classic you love cornering and they way the vehicle hugs the road. The petrol engine has power in a low rpm range so even on low rpms the car picks up well. The numbers do not do justice to the amount of driving pleasure the car provides. The 1.4 Diesel engine is underpowered but after a remap with the HPS and grear suspension its a superb package. The best part here was the pricing and the affordability. The Fiesta Classic was one of the cheapest full sized sedans being sold and even the maintenance costs were pretty low. These are the reasons people love the car.

Which is the best small cars for fuel economy?

These are a few options you could consider while buying a car 1)HONDA CITY 2014 Honda City Diesel – 26 kmpl When the new Honda City diesel went on sale earlier this year, it took the crown of India’s most fuel efficient car from its smaller sibling, the Honda Amaze. Though both cars use the same 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine, the City gets a 6-speed gearbox, and pips the Amaze by 0.2 km/l. The ARAI rated efficiency of the City diesel stands at 26 km/l. 2)HONDA AMAZE Honda Amaze Diesel – 25.8 kmpl The Honda Amaze diesel is the second most fuel efficient car in India with an ARAI rated claim of 25.8 km/l. The Amaze was the first diesel car for Honda in India, and introduced the 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine. < Where the City uses the same engine with a 6-speed gearbox, the Amaze uses a 5-speed transmission. 3)CHEVEROLET BEAT Chevrolet Beat Diesel – 25.44 kmpl With an ARAI rated claim of 25.44 km/l, the Chevrolet Beat comes third in the list of top fuel efficient cars in India. The 936 cc three-cylinder diesel engine makes the Beat the smallest diesel car in India (in terms of engine displacement). The motor is good for 58.5 PS and 150 Nm of torque. At the Auto Expo this year, GM India launched the refreshed Beat which saw minor cosmetic changes. 4) TATA NANO TWIST Tata Nano Twist – 25.40 kmpl The Nano Twist takes fourth spot in this list with an ARAI-rated claim of 25.4 km/l. The Nano is the only petrol powered car in this list, as the small and lightweight car proves to be fuel efficient thanks to its twin-cylinder 624 cc engine paired to a 4-speed manual transmission. It remains to be seen whether the Twist F-Tronic with the 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) is as fuel efficient as its manual counterpart 4)FORD FIESTA 2014 Ford Fiesta Facelift – 25.01 kmpl Launched last week, the refreshed Fiesta has an ARAI claimed 25.01 km/l, thus clinching the fifth spot in this list. Compared to the pre-facelifted model’s 23.05 km/l, the refreshed Fiesta, thanks to an engine remap and a more aerodynamic styling, is able to achieve more to the liter of diesel. 5)TATA INDIGO Tata Indigo eCS/Tata Indica CR4 – 25.0 kmpl The Indigo eCS and Indica powered by the 1,396 cc CR4 diesel engine are able to deliver 25 km/l. The engine produces 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque on these cars, and complies to BS4 norms. 6)TATA NANO Tata Nano – 25.0 kmpl Taking seventh spot is the regular version of the Tata Nano, which despite being powered by the same 624 cc twin-cylinder engine manages ‘only’ 25 km/l in the ARAI test. The regular Nano is devoid of power steering, but is offered in a wider range of three variants. Production of the Nano has come to a halt at the Sanand plant, as Tata is going in for a retooling process to make the refreshed Nano. 8)HYUNDAI XCENT Hyundai Xcent Diesel – 24.4 kmpl With an ARAI rated figure of 24.4 km/l, the Hyundai Xcent takes eighth place in this list. The Xcent was launched in India earlier this year and is based on the Grand i10 hatchback. The Xcent diesel is powered by a three-cylinder 1.1-liter engine which outputs 72 PS and 184 Nm of torque. 9)HYUNDAI GRAND i10 Hyundai Grand i10 Diesel – 24 kmpl Using the same engine as the Xcent, the Grand i10 achieves 24 km/l to become the ninth most efficient car in the country. The hatchback, though weighing less, delivers lesser economy than its sedan sibling. 10)TOYOTA ETIOS Toyota Etios Diesel variants – 23.59 kmpl The tenth place is taken by the Toyota Etios which has an ARAI rated claim of 23.59 km/l. All three cars (Liva, Cross and Etios) are powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine which makes 68 PS and 170 Nm of torque. The same engine is also used in the newly

How can a car go faster than its official top speed?

To go faster than the manufacturer’s figures one could: Fit a supercharger or turbo, remap the engine management at your local garage ( cos they know more about engines than either Ford or Honda right?) and tie up the engine with lorry straps to prevent the block and rocker cover parting company at full revs. Fit “GoFaster”stripes ( a performance mod utilised all over the world and my personal favourite ) Drive in a hurricane with the wind behind you. ( it worked for me once, I didn't realise until I got to work and the wind tried to rip my door off as I was getting out) Fit a nitrous injection kit and drive it like you stole it until you hear an annoying rattle from the transmission tunnel or see smoke coming through the air vents) Drive downhill flat out, gather momentum and keep the pedal on the metal.(this worked in my Ford Fiesta 1.6 diesel anyway. 120mph in a car with a claimed 85mph top speed ) Tailgate a faster Ferrari or V8 Musclecar for at least 10 miles (Remember your cycling training, maintain a distance no greater than a mouse, don't touch the brakes and don't stick your head out of the window into the slipstream ). Remove the roof rack and CB aerial.
