The first generation Saga was developed as the result of a joint venture between HICOM and Mitsubishi Motors. It is based on the second generation Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore, and was available in 4-door saloon and 5-door hatchback guises. The second generation Proton Saga was unveiled on 18 January 2008.

Saga's safety features are also good, which can be witnessed by its 3-star rating by ASEAN NCAP on its safety. The best part, in my opinion, is its engine, which delivers quite a powerful performance.
