Toyota is rumoured to be launching a Toyota Corolla long wheelbase that offers significantly more interior legroom. Like many long wheelbase specials, the Corolla LWB will be exclusive to the China market.
The stretched Corolla will still be riding on the same Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-C) platform with its wheelbase extended by 100 mm to 2,800 mm. That is only 25 mm shorter compared to the Toyota Camry, so expect to have exceptional rear legroom.
The exterior design will remain unchanged from the standard Corolla except for the longer rear doors and the reputedly ‘Corolla L’ nameplate.
The Chinese market loves their long wheelbase cars. Anything from compact sedans like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class to SUVs such as the GLC has a long wheelbase version that is only available in China.
The Corolla LWB is reported to be equipped with the new M15C 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder Dynamic Force petrol engine that is capable of pushing out 118 PS and 146 Nm.
