A couple of days ago, Toyota released a new TV commercial which features their latest SUV – the Raize.
We’ve covered the Raize (and its Daihatsu Rocky sibling) extensively, but how do you pronounce Raize?
In case you’re wondering, the correct pronunciation for Raize is “ri-ze”, similar to “rise”, instead of “rai-zee” or “raise”.
To recap, both the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky are identical twins – both cars are built by Daihatsu at its Ryuo plant. Power is derived from a 1.0-litre 1KR-VET turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that does 98 PS and 140 Nm, mated to a CVT-type automatic.
The Raize/Rocky will also serve as the basis for the upcoming Perodua D55L, which is set to feature a number of firsts for Perodua, including the DNGA platform, a turbocharged engine, as well as a CVT-type automatic.
While the Perodua D55L may be a B-segment SUV like the upcoming Proton X50, they do not compete directly.
