For the first 2 months of 2020, the City outsold the Almera by a huge margin – almost double. The City holds the number 1 position in the B-segment sedan followed by the Almera and the Mazda 2 Sedan.
What’s even more interesting is that while most of the cars in the segment saw a drop in sales in February 2020, the City saw a slight growth in sales. This goes to shows just how well received the all-new Honda City is.
Closer to home, both the City and Almera are expected to be launched to the local market. However, the timeline will most likely be pushed back to late 2020 or even into 2021 due to unfavourable market conditions as well as the month-long Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed.
We expect the Malaysian market to exhibit similar buying habits as our neighbours in Thailand as the Honda City just have that ‘can’t go wrong’ sentiments compared to the rest of the cars in the segment.
