The current-generation Honda HR-V has been around since 2014 and the model received its mid-life update in 2018.
Now in its sixth-year, it appears that Honda is already working on the next-generation HR-V (sold as the Vezel in Japan), which is said to go on sale by December 2020.

According to a report by CarSensor, the next-generation Honda HR-V will not be built on the same platform as the fourth-generation Honda Jazz (the fourth-generation Jazz uses a modified version of third-gen’s platform), but instead, on an all-new platform.

It is said that the new platform is called Honda Architecture and the all-new HR-V will be the first model to be built on this platform.

Although details are scarce at the moment, the report mentioned that the all-new HR-V will get the same e:HEV petrol-electric hybrid powertrain like the Jazz, meaning that the current-generation’s Sport Hybrid i-DCD system will bow out soon.
Furthermore, the all-new HR-V is said to get a new blind spot warning system and rear cross traffic alert system, something we speculated earlier.

To recap, the current-generation Honda HR-V is available as a regular petrol or as a hybrid. No matter which variant you pick, you still get a well-packaged subcompact SUV that is small on the outside and big on the inside.
